I had a tape stick in my tape player...Had to use long nose plyers to remove it....
Now when I start to truck I get a error message on the radio saying notape,error.....
The radio still works and CD player but the error message is driving me crazy......
Is there some way to clear it or clean the tape player ?? I thought about blowingwith my air compressor but thats a lot of pressure...Maybe use a cleaning tape or something ??????
I realize this isn't something like a front end noise or tranny problem but someone else must have had this problem and can help.....
Thanks
Make sure that there is no tape left in there. Also check the mechanism that tells the unit there is a tape in there as it may be stuck thinking a tape is loaded when it is not. Just like a CD or DVD player at home, the logic circuit will screw you if it does not load up the proper reading based on those stupid plastic gears and position sensors. It's broke, don't worry about fixing it more broke if it it's driving you nuts. Otherwise drive on and don't use the player anymore. There is the aftermarket.
Have you tried inserting and ejecting a different tape to see if that resets the system?
You might also try the general superduty forum. This is not a diesel specific problem and there may be some gems there too.

I had to pull out my cd palyer and let it sit for about thirty minutes. The guy at the local radio shop said it would only take 5 minutes or so to reset. Mine works fine now. Error message is gone.

If that worked then it looks like you should be able to disconnect the batt's for 30 minutes or so.

Dude, I want to know what you where listening to on a tape....
Hey what's wrong with tape's? I'm thinking about putting a in-dash record player in mine. Maybe a karaoke machine too! One day we'll all say " CD's...what are listening to on cd's?"
