Well i have a 6 in lifted bronco and im soon to get an f150. Just to wheel partime but still make somewhat pratical. 6inch just doesnt cut it for me anymore. I want bigger. Coils up front and of course leafs in the rear...no blocks.

That is a bunch for a 150, and little axles. 12+ inches will clear big meats, is the 150 drivertrain up to the task?

12inches of lift and practical do not fit well in the same sentence. I'm running 36's with no lift and very little rubbing on my '78, I'm not sure what you'd need 12inches for.

well if you chreck out his user name that pretty much tells you he can run just about any size tire he wants! if he does go offroad with tires that fit under a 12" lift he will snap axles and joints like toothpicks without even trying!

but oh well, we all have to learn the hard way! however may i make a suggest... ditch the half ton and get a 1 ton truck. they look the same but come with beefier axles that you could actually use. i wouldnt waste my money on a tall lift for a truck like that, but then again look at my bronco

good luck to ya

HA HA all you guys are funny. I never said anything about half ton axles. There for stock trucks. I'm thinking d60 front and 10.25inch in the rear....pretty much an f-350. Hmmm.....maybe i should get and f-350. Well I'm just in the research stage and I'm figuring out all my options. And my goal is having a big truck.

I'll level with you there i don't NEED 12+ inches. But they look awesome regardless.

ok but you never said that, no F150 from 80-96 ever came with a solid axle from the factory.... so with the lil info we had to work with it was assumed that was your plan!

sounds to me like you need to tell us what your gonna use it for so we can better help you AND decide on a final 4x4 platform to build on. ANY 1/2 ton truck (sorry guys) IMO is a waste unless you already have parts laying around to build it right or its just a mall krawler!

hmm...well i can go one of two ways....either convert a 150 or i could just go to a 350 which would make more since. But just out of curiosity if i were to convert a 150 with one tons. would the distant between where the leaf bracket on the axle differ between half ton or one ton axles. Anotherword would they be narrower or wider with one or the other?

The rear leaf springs are the same distance apart.
