My F350 KR arrived at the dealer on the Thursday, the 8th! I get to pick it up when the extras have been added, LINE-X, etc. I sure hope that the rain here in San Diego doesn't delay that! I know I know stop complaing about a little rain. But I really want my truck. If I'm lucky, I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon, but now that I've said that . . .
Wow is it nice and quiet, you still know it's a diesel, but really quite. Nice power, beautiful truck. 30lbs of boost climbing the hill to my house. Not hard on the accelerator, doing ~35 mph up a steep grade.
I've pasted a cell phone camera picture in my gallery. It's dark now. I'll take more and post them this weekend.
After waiting for a new Superduty for 3 years, ordered a 450 on Jan 27th. My teeth are itching waiting already. Concerned with 450 ordered with 4.88s Trying to figure out what rpm it will run at. Looks like 2500 rpms at 68 mph in OD? Figured it out two years ago that a 350 with 4.30s would run about 2100 rpms at 65mph in 5th with the auto. My 99 F350 DRW V10 has 3.73s runs 66.4mph at 2750 rpms in 4th gear (standard) 5th gear none towing 2000 rpms at 64 mph. it does better at 72.5 at 3000rpms pulling 13,500 5th wheel. It will pull most large hills in 3rd gear 55mph at about 3800rpms. Pulling the hills in Pa it spent most the time on the floor in 3rd gear and did it well. Glad I ran synthetic for the extra protection. Originally I wanted 4:30 gears but the dealer talked me out of it saying it would over rev all the time. At the time we planned on purchasing a lighter 5th wheel. We plan on upgrading our 5th wheel in the future to possibly 20,000# So I did not want to get cut short again. When I first bought the V10, I didn’t really care for it that much being a GM person. But now that I have towed for 5 years pushing that v10 beyond what most people do, it has really impressed me. My fuel mileage with the v10 doesn’t seem to make a difference on the hwy in either 4th for 5th gear. Rural mileage is 11.7 for the year and 7.5 towing. Hoping for 16-17 for the new 450 and 11 towing running the speed limit.

I test drove a 450 last Friday with 4:88's. At 65-70 it was taching 2500rpm's. It really seamed like it needed to shift.
Thanks 1968gtcs for confirming it. got out the caculator and formula and figured 2375 rpms at 65. When I first drove the 99 v10 automatic it felt the same, felt more like a bus. That is one reason I bought a Standard. Hopefully once it is broke in it will won't be as tight.
Here are a few pictures of my new toy. I've posted more in my gallery.
Here are my impressions after the first week.
Engine - Power is very smooth and responsive. Accelerates quickly and since the motor is new, I haven't floored it yet. At 70 on the freeway, engine is ~ 2,500 rpm. It's very quite at highway speeds, I notice the wind noise more than the motor. Every now and then I hear the whistle of the turbo. Transmission shifts very smoothly. Don't really notice it.
Ride - Not too bad considering it's a one-ton dually (LWB). Still hops a bit too much for my taste empty on the highway. I though my kidneys were going to rattle off. I'm getting an air suspension as soon as it's ready (see below). Turning radius isn't too bad for such a long vehicle. My brother has a LWB Chevy 3/4 ton (it's an '04 or '05 gasser) and I can turn inside of him.
Interior - Awesome! The King Ranch leather is very soft and supple. Chairs are comfortable and supportive. Plenty of storage space and enough cup holders to keep you heading for the bathroom every 50 miles! Controls are easy to reach and use. Trailer tow brake control very easy to reach while driving if you need to manually apply the trailer brakes. NAV system is very intuitive. I didn't really have to open the book other than to figure out how to load the DVD. The audiophile system is great and with the iPod jack, my tunes sound great.
I've almost got 500 miles on it and I go in this week to get the 5th wheel hitch installed (any comments on where to mount the trailer plug inside the bed?). Fiver is being delivered a few days after that. Already planned an overnight trip to check out the trailer, then it'll be time for a long road trip to the Grand Canyon. I'll post how it handled when towing.
Now I'm just waiting for Talon engineering to finish designing and testing their replacement air suspension. I've been talking to them ever since they announced the '08. President is a real nice guy. I like this system, has it's own air tank and compressor aboard and I can tap into that if I need to air up the tires.

Sweeeet Truck... Same color as mine will be. But mine will have the 19.5 rims.
