Does anyone know where I could find regular side mirrors for my 08 F250 other than the dealer? The dealer wants $150 per side.
I have the power/heat tow mirrors w/o the power fold. I really would like the regular mirrors as I do not tow much. Would they stick out less?
By the way I am new to the forum. I just bought an 08' 250 Forest green over silver, supercab, 4x4 with camper package and 4x4 package, manual hubs, sliding rear window and standard radio with xlt package and rear tailgate step.
i think the donkey ears stick out just as far as the tow mirrors when they are tucked right in, if not they are just slightly smaller because they are still large mirrors, you're much better off keeping the bigger mirrors even just for daily driving, eliminates the blind spots with the nice and huge convex mirror on the bottom
I went from the dog ears to the trailer tow mirrors. The convex mirrors completly eliminate your blind spots. I would keed the TTs, they stick out just as far and you still get the turn signals.
I have looked at the ford vehicle site and to me they donkey ears as you call them just look better. Besides I am used to looking at my blind spot area. I am willing to loose the turn signal/ heat if I can still have the power mirrors. I wonder if I could get the mirrors to work off a diff vehicle say an excursion.
Thanks for the help as a matter of fact I did find some on ebay...now if Only I can win them.........If I do I will post my results before and after and maybe the procedure getting the wiring hooked up. I know to go from small mirors to TT mirrors there is a kit that must be installed. I am hoping that going backwards is easier. I also want to be able to switch back the easiest way possible.
I sure hate to tear into that new 250 door though..or do I have too? the mirror is in the upper corner of the door that piece pry off separate from the rest of the ..door. I need a manual I suppose..maybe I should add real metal handels while I am in there. Where can I get real chrome or black metal....oooo or better yet paintable ones to match my forest green
Just as an update I found my mirrors on ebay and I got them for a dollar....plus $30 in shipping...but they are coming off a brand new truck that is getting tow mirrors. The dealer wanted $300 for the pair...very Nice

You'll need to remove the door panels to access the plug on the wire harness. The door panel is very easy to remove and put back on. There is a small pop off cover near the upper pull handle that has 2 screws behind it and there are 2 screws on the bottom of the door. The you just pull straight up about and inch and it comes right off.
The mirrors themselves are very easy to do. Pop that small cover at the top front of the door off, pull off the black tape and remove the rubber grommets. You'll see the small nuts that hold the mirrors on. One of those nuts hold the window channel in place.
what would I do without you all?? I know I would probably screw up my windows (thanks for the window channel heads up) I think I can get away with just figuring out which lead on the harnes is for making the power mirrors move and just rig some wire into the wire before the harness. I really don't want to screw with the harness to much cause I am gonna prob go back to the tow mirror one day.
I have a set of "Donkey ear" mirrors off my oo sd power no heat they are in good shape . i swapped them out with tow mirrors to pull my camper. btw i didnt like the blind spot mirror so i ordered a set of round blind spot mirrors from c-betr mirrors. they bolt between the arms onn the tow mirrors,. they area HUGE advandage while driving and backing up. not to expensive either. thanks -britt
