HELLO. im back, i spent a couple days in the hospital. all is ok now, or at least better. while pouring concrete the driver let the chute (full of concrete, very heavy) loose and i was looking in the form. when i heard it swinging around i looked up and tried to move. it hit me in the left side and broke 3 ribs i tumbled into the pit full of rebar and 4 out of the 9 yards of concrete. the steele cut me in a couple of places 22 stiches. i got up hosed off and bandeged the cuts up and finished pouring. the driver was so sorry the company is paying the medical bills and the concrete was free. yaeh!! the driver said the lever slipped that holds the chute while he was waiting and scrubbing. i waited untill i finished the concrete then called my wife at work to come home to take mw tothe hosptial.
while in the hospital they ran several tests
on why the nose bleeds. still have not given me a reason. several tesets to check on all other stuff too. i waS able to backfill today and run a roller to compact the dirt. im done for now. the rough grading is done( boy did that hurt to run a bobcat) i have to pour somemore crete for the porch footings but thats in a while.

we also took possesion of our house today. the renters left. im back to work fulltime so ill be working on our house in the evenings. i have alot of work to do (3 months) till we move in. the wife is letting mw do as much as i can and the docs say whatever, they say im an ox that doesnt know when to stop so go ahead.
you should watch the wife wrap my ribs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i put my hands up and spin!!!!!!!!!!! more later, im tired and need sleep. sorry i left for ahile!

Jeez George, that's one way to get free concrete!! Not sure I would go that route, but the next time I need a driveway, I'll be thinking of it

Glad to hear about the house! that has to be a relief.

Take it easy George, pace yourself!!!!!

Hey George -

Nice to have you back and glad to hear that you finally took possession of the house.

I'll have to agree with Yeti - that's sure a tough way to get free concrete. Maybe you should have a friend take the hit for the porch footers.

Glad to hear you survived George! Those chutes can be a pain! I was knocked into 10 inches of crete on a job a few years ago and split my head open.

Damn... I've poured concrete in my earlier days, lots of it. Not an easy task for anyone, much less for someone going through what you're going through. You aren't related to John Wayne, are you?

Hi George,

I had some problems every once in a while with my chutes when I was somewhat healthy never mind sick.

I don't know where you are getting all this strength from ?

hello! been a good week health wise. maybe a dozen bleed outs, 1 that forced my workers to take me to er, i think they over reacted but thats better then bleeding to death. im exhausted but feel well. off to doctors manday.
check under house here for my progress.
i waas at the hosp cause i was tearing out the trim and i fell back and put my hands down to break my fall and had a pice of trim with a 10dd finish nail go into my palm under the thumb and stick into the bone a little. took the trim into hosp to have removed and glued together. damn im dumb. i didnt tell the wife but i was felling dizzy after a bleed and tried working through it. glad i was alone and i could learn my lesson alone.
oh well im resting tonmight, back at it sat!!
