Too bad I couldn't stay longer. At least I got to meet a few of you. It's funny how a 3 year old just doesn't seem interested in an FTE meeting. He was just happy he got to eat French Fries. Few more years I guess.
Don't worry Dustin, Preppy missed seeing my wife's mini van to!!!
I was happy about the turn out also. Our biggest one yet. The idea of a club garage is great, but like it has been said that is down the road some years, unless someone has a place they can donate to us for use.
The idea of the dub having us do a show and shine would be great idea. I then can maybe get my 78 back on the road sooner. It has some rust, but still nice to look at. I can fix the body work in a month if I didn't have so many other things to do at home. I actually look forward to getting my 78 back on the road. By then I can put antique plates on it.
dale68merc, it`s too bad you had that happen and had to miss the meeting. The weather was nice and we had a great turn out. In January we hope to have a garage tour of the C&C Powder Coating Plant in Saskatoon where I got my Bobcat wheels powder coated. They did a nice job, hope to hear from lockups as to how the arrangments are coming.
Hopefully the garage tour works out for Jan.`s meeting and we can ask prices then. I`ve heard rumours of anywhere from $350 to $700 for a frame. First it has to be sandblasted (super clean) before taking itfor powdercoating. The 4 Bobcat wheels were $200 for the colour coat and a second coat of clear for more shine and protection.
The sandblasting cost $100 for the 4 wheels. So far they look very nice but it`s only been afew months.
Thats cool fom, and considering all, if it cost a guy around 500 bucks for a powdercoated frame, that would be awesome. Almost never have to worry about rust at all after that.
We should start a thread on pc...
Be sure to have all the repairs, mods and welding done first. Touchups are much harder and I think that the complete frame would have to be redone in which case it would have to have the first pc removed. It`s not like paint for touch ups.
Powdercoating can be damaged, chipped but it seems more resilient than most coatings.
