Recently it starts easily but after running 1-2 minutes it acts like it is starving for fuel and dies. It can bestarted again but requires spinning the engine fast and the engine eventually fires and starsts to catch up . This may have to be repeated several times and then it will run fine the rest of the day. It seems to be related to if the engine is warm or not.
97K mile. Changed the fuel filter, Air filter on it after the problem started 3 weeks ago. Oil and oil filter has about 5k on it.
I'm new here. What is the CPS. [Cam position sensor????] If so where is it located on the engine. Any Pics?
I had a cummins diesel for 270K and bought this one recently from my Mom after my dad passed away ..it was his truck. The air filter was the dirtiest air filter I have ever seen when I changed it. He was pretty sick for over a year so I doubt it was changed in that time and they lived on a dirt road.
I want to reinforce the truck starts very easy for the first start but dies after running a minute or two and then is extremly hard to start and keep running but once it warms up it runs OK. Also there are no Check Engine codes in the computer..
Thanks
Is there an online shop manual for my 7.3 anywhere on the internet that you know of?

A couple of other people went through the same symptoms that you are describing and it ended up being the low pressure oil pump was worn out and it had to be replaced. It wasn't building pressure soon enough and the high pressure oil pump was running out of oil before the LPOP could refill the HPOP reservoir. It's a fairly easy job as it's mounted on the front of the crankshaft.
