7.3 powerstroke interchangable

Will a 7.3 powerstroke out of a 97 f350 fit in place of a 7.3powerstroke in 99 f250? If so what do i have to change for it to work? Any help would be appreciated.

Dimensionally, yes, it is the same engine, and will fit. There are a few differences in the 97 engine and the 99.5 and later engines. The 97 has smaller injectors, IDM,turbo, and HPOP than the 99.5-2003, and also requires different PCM calibration. Does that mean a 97 motor wont run in a 2000 truck? No. While you will need to have the PCM recalibrated, it is otherwise plug and play.

Yes, but you will have to swap out the injectors, engine wiring harness, valve cover gaskets, accessories (power steering pump, alt, etc), turbo and all related piping including the plenums on the heads, HPOP, and then you'll have to plug the hole in the valley where the mechanical fuel pump on the OBS sits.
