alt guage
today my 93 f150 didn't crank for work, I knew I needed a new battery but you kno how it is. I'll get around to it.
anyway the guage on the alt. seems to stay to the plus side and I was wondering if anyine knew how it works?
is this the power comming fron the altnator? of is this the power going to the battery, or what. I'm confused
also when my drivers side window is up and I press the button "power windows"
the guage takes a hell of a plundge towards the sown side, but the passenger window does not do this.
thanks for sheding any light on this for me
If you're seeing a big plunge in the gauge, it means you've got some binding in the window and you're probably going to be putting a window motor in soon. Heavier current draw will drop the battery voltage, particularly at idle, until the voltage regulator can compensate. The voltage regulator isn't real fast, not to mention the reactance of the alternator takes a bit to push current through and won't happen instantaneously. The passenger side window doesn't get used nearly as much as the driver's side. It'll last 4 times as long as the drivers side, or seize up from lack of use.
