Alternator self destruct

Replaced my alt about a month ago(original '04) and the wilson rebuilt self destructed on monday on way back from haulin wood......all guages and lights in dash maxxed out then went out then truck revived and had battery light on and fuel guage indicating empty....? 3/4 full .........able to limp home on battery and pulled alt to find housing cracked around front pulley and shaft loose. Before i fire it up with new alt what should i check and what would cause fuel guage to be inaccurate?

Don't need an alt just make sure the battery is good and turn the key to on to see how things look first. Prob just need new alt.

The dash gauges do that on these trucks. Mine did that a few times until I replaced the batteries. So just put a new alternator back on and you should be good to go.
