Engine Knocking
My 1998, V6, makes a noise such as the lifters loose. Someone said that it was the rod bearings, I had them replaced, the noise never went away. Someone else said the oil is not flowing all over the engine.
What viscosity would be better to muffle the noise a lighter or heavier oil (10 vs 50) and what do I need to do to fix it up once for all.

I recomend a heavier oil in a higher mileage engine, but in my experience the opposite reduces lifter noise. I'm not 100% about the modular engines(including your V6) but in older engines lifters are not difficult to change. I would recommend that, it's as easy as a few simple tools and a gasket set usually. You will probably need a torque wrench for the rockers, however.

Scottie, thanks for the quick reply, I'll try a lighter oil, first. On the weekend I'll take a look at the lifters...Aren't this lifters hydraulics and they are supposed to be self adjusting or so I thought, tha's why I didn't try that first.?
