Which programmer is best for transmission shifting? I would like the shifting to stay as close to stock as possible? I have read the new diablosport predator is vastly improved. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
I've had great luck with the SCMT. Shifts great, great power, and it has been problem free for almost 2 years now. And I can beat damn near anything on the street with my 8,000 lb. diesel!
LOL--you just haven't run across anyone with a properly tuned SCT....you wouldn't even have a chance
You speak in a lot of absolutes.
Spoken like a true Nascar fan....
Unfortunately, the tuning world isn't so simple.
Anyways, yes the SCT if properly tuned (by someone LIKE Innovative Diesel) is going to be the fastest....usually, sometimes, .....
However, shifting is very subjective subject, and will be different depending on who writes the tune.
The SCMT is really nice for a lot of people because it shifts at 4000-4200 RPM at WOT, but gets progressively softer and sooner with less throttle.
I actually wrote the shift tables personally in the SCMT, and drivability is great.
There are ways to make more power, but it was intentionally built within certain parameters to provide safe power for thousands of people.
The SCT and SCMT (and Flashpaq) are all great products.
The SCMT is probably best for CONSISTENCY, as the tunes were written, tested and standardized over hundreds of trucks.
The SCT will yield the most power and flexibility, provided you find the right tuner. It's all in the hands of whoever writes the calibration.

LOL--I know Jim. I guess Matt has me spoiled. He's got the "Granny Truck" clicking on all 8 for sure. I can't wait to ride in his project truck when he gets it finished.
SCMT DOES have great shifting and is well written, I'll not take that away from you for sure. You can't go wrong----at least as long as Jim's files are still there--lol.

I believe a lot of the tuned files have been changed, but a lot of the core shifting strategies remain.
I'm definetly sure someone with custom tunes can beat my truck, but I thought the question was what programmer provides the best transmission shifting. For an out of the box programmer, the SCMT would be the way to go. If you want to mess around with custom tunes, the SCT will be great for that. Hope this helps.
