Red face future reflash?

i went to my ford dealer to see about a reflash to update the pcm, because i made the mistake of buying the hypertech hyperpac , they tell me (FORD DEALER) that i have to wait because ford is comming out with a new flash because the last one made everyones truck run bad. hyper tech says their programmer is for the latest reflash and ford should up date the pcm. ie the hyper pac wont! deliver any power programming without it, truck has never been back to dealer since new 2004, any body know about the new reflash due out??

All due respects, the flash made them run bad only when it wasn't performed correctly. To my knowledge, there isn't a "repair flash". The latest flash improves cold start issues.

They'll only do the flash if you are having an issue with a misfire at cold start that goes away when it warms up.

Why would they (the dealer) say that to him?

because it is not a required deal. it is a tsb suggesting the reprogram as a fix. if you are under 36/36, i am sure if you want it you can get it for free. if you are under 5/100000 it will be your deductible.

Probably because they don't know what they are doing.

The dealer didn't say it to him, the service writer did. All too many times, the writers follow the guideline" If you cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t". Again, establish a relationship with your tech, it'll save a lot of headaches later!

Talking Flash

I took my 04 in twice for the latest flash because my PPE tuner wouldn't recognise the PCM. Now you don't want to tell the dealer thats what you want the reflash for. I finally sent the tuner back to PPE for a reflash and now things are work'n right.
