I got a good, tight, used sun visor off a junker and put it in my truck. The visor will stay in position around the long horizontal shaft but the entire unit hangs down and swings around. Is there a secret trick to inserting the visor into the hole in the cab roof and securing it that I must have missed? What's the position of the spring and spring stop on the end of the visor that goes in the hole? That's the only thing I can figure that I may have moved out of position during installation.
I have two of these trucks in the family and they are both the same, I think if you could tighten the spring somehow it would help... I just junked an 89 and my solution is to put those sunvisors in my 86 as they have a clip on them to hold them up...( I just have to drill holes to put the clips on the ceiling, being careful not to drill out the top of the roof of course...)
Were they the correct color? Finding the same color for years later sounds fairly difficult, unless it's black.
Yes they are a perfect match as both my trucks had origionally started out grey with a dark red interior I have found that the dark red interior (even in my father's 84) is easy to match, as well as grey and some medium blue interiors...
ol'reliable is right. Use the sun visors out and 87 to 96 and make sure you get the plastic clips that mount in the roof with them. There is lots of space for the screw. Just measure right and drill once. ZDid this to my son's truck for an upgrade and worked perfectly.
