Engine Rev's up at startup

Engine Rev's up at startup
Every time i start my truck it revs up to 2000 rpm's for a bit and then settles back down to idle, my dads truck dosnt do it nearly as bad.... is there somthing wrong or is that just the nature of the Triton motors.

It's normal if it revs just after starting and then immediatly settles down. Mine revs to ~2K for maybe 1 sec, then settles down to ~1K until it it been running for a little longer.
It should rev up to and then start back down from 2K, but the needle shouldn't hover there.

k well thats what myne does just for like 1 sec... but my dads screw with 5.4 dosnt...thats what made me notice it.. and the fact that i put it into drive somtimes before it settles and it cluncks the tranny... i just need to wait for it.. but still just didnt know..
. It's done it for as long as I can remember though, hasn't stopped running yet.
