bedliner on the underside???

hi, i'm working on my hood ('54) and i've decided to paint the underside with a roll-on bedliner material. i've decided to do this under all the fenders, floorboard, bed, pretty much everything. two of my friends asked me if the bedliner material was going to :

1) make my hood too heavy, and
2) retain the heat, making my engine compartment very hot.

i don't think i will have to worry about either, because i think the answer is, "no," to both questions. i just want to see if you other builders agree with me, or suggest something else. i've seen what appears to bedliner material under other peoples' hoods before, and thought it was a great idea.

thanks,
john

bedliner on the underside???

I've heard some talk on this topic before, and if I remember correctly the general consensus was that it might not be a good idea to put a roll in bedliner on the underside of panels. The reason being that if you ever did get any moisture under the stuff (or any rust that you didn't completely get rid of), that rust would have a hayday on the metal underneath it. So any scratch or nick in the liner would mean the potential for some serious rust that wouldn't be easy to get at without a lot of work to strip off the bedliner material. I personally don't think I'd use it on my own project, I really don't wanna deal with rust again, its a pain in the butt the first time around, let alone the second. Maybe someone else on here has any added suggestions/ideas.

Jon
