I want to put a roll in bed liner as an interior for my truck, so all I have to do is hose it out. I want to put some sort of sound deadening material UNDER the bediner, anyone have any info or experiences for me?
the bedliner stuff is pretty sound deadning. the thicker you put it on the more it drowns out. as for something under it i dunno what you could put under it. you could use dyna mat then lay in a vinyl floor that you can also hose out.
I don't think that you could out anything down that the bedliner would addhear to, unless you sanded then primed it and slathered the bedliner in.I might be wrong but I cant think of anything.

when i redid the floors in my 80 f150 i covered the new ones, in tar, let it dry then put down the deadening mat and then a vinyl mat. it's been great and i can still hose out my truck with out any concequences. the tar alone did deaden sound considerably but the mat and insulator did the most. the mat was cheap too, i think around 200 bucks or something. i can't remember. alziemers at 19!!!
Well, the other reason I wanted to insulate it is because of the heat. I live in the desert, and thats where I go out 4x4ing, and it makes the floors ownright WARM.
the rubber mats are soo thick that there is no reason to put down underbody coating or bed liner. The one on my truck I got from www.JCWhitney.com and it's 3/16" thick. I had a hard time even cutting it to fit. It was fitted for my truck, but was a little wide so i had trim it that's all. Just do that. Believe me it's worth the money.
hey man do whatever you want, but i definately think that if you want heat and sound insulation a rubber mat that is fitted for your truck (bronco) would be the way to go. I don't know of any other kind of insulation you could use that you could roll bed liner onto. oh btw i used herculiner to rockproof the underbody and rockers on my truck as well as wheel wells etc... it stuck to bondo and fiberglass. Thought that little bit might help you. The Herculiner doesn't go as far as you might think. my brother did 3 coats of it on his truck bed (96 ranger long box) and it took 2 1/2 gallons. that's pretty expensive. the cracks will be the most expensive to fill. like i said, do what you want but you have to make comprimises between noise and heat deadening and hosability (i guess that's what you would call it.)
well then, good luck. but just for clarification, you are gonna herculine your floorboards and then put down rubber mats and then herculine them as well.
