2001 F350 FPS 7.3L Auto trans.
Had to have truck towed to dealership yesterday and they put in two "UVC Harness Retaining Clips. ($432.43!!!)
The counter guy (not a mechanic) made it sound like Ford never put these in from the factory and they are an aftermarket repair.
First ??: Why would my engine run like s*^t if these were bad, or not even there.
Second??: Are these clips in there from the factory.
They hold the harness to injectors and glow plugs.
My big issue is that my extended warranty would not pay for the repair!
I'm trying to gather information so as to take them to the woodshed!
Prior to 2002 MY ford used Plastic Clips for the UVC's. They replaced your probably broken plastic clips with the updated clips. Common repair for us I believe the "clip kit" from international is around 30 bucks or so. They hit you hard for labor
the connections under the valve cover where not very good from the factory and over time could work lose causing the engine to miss. (injector/glowplug harness) the clips where designed as a fix to this problem, they more frimly hold the plug together and will not allow it to work loose. i dont know what your mechanical abbilities are but you could have fixed it you self for about $30.00 and a fews hours of wrenching
Yeah, had I known that was what the problem was! I couldn't even drive it to the local parts store to hook it up to the code thingy they hav.
Wouldn't you say that these"faulty" clips would be part of the harness?
And is there any place in FTE that explain codes? It pinpointed test code P1316.
kwik, and ponch . . . all you . . . so much help! Thanks all.
What's an IDM? And kwik, did that ECM even have a clip to keep it together? 'Cause that's what they put in my truck. Little clips to hold the ECM together.
Why has there not been any recalls on something as crucial as this?
How does a person get a recall started?
