I need to clean (rebuild) my main engine wiring harness. Couple of questions:
1. Can i use simple green to clean the main engine wiring harness? especially the connectors that plug into the UVC gasket? I have oil in the connectors and just a lot of oily grime all over the rest of the harness. I am already replacing the UVC gasket.
If not,
2. If i buy the repair pigtails (part #16-011 from diesel orings) what is the best connection to use at the electrical splice point? to connect the electrical wires and also seal it water tight?
I don't think simple green would hurt the wiring harness any, as long as you don't soak any sensors. If you need to replace any pigtails, solder the wire splices, and use heat shrink tubing to cover the repair.
