Block bored 30 over + porting heads. Istill have 300 hundo on the cam + intake. 550 on l+l headers. 125 on the motor mounts. + I still have to get new push rods, oil pump, waterpump, thermostat, etc.
This build is a perfect example of nickel + diming one to poverty. + this ain't even a racing build!

Steve,
I think theThorley headers DTE-212Y $379.99 are a better fit for your application. They give better lowend torque that will serve you better on the street or in the woods. You will want to install a X pipe or a crossover in your exaust. I would use the L+L IF I was racing.
I don't know about where you are but the Salvage yards around hear all have conectons so you can see if some one has what you are looking for if the place you are in dosen't

Bill,
Thanks for the heads up on the Thorleys. I'll have to check on what the cost is on welding in a crossover. (I assume they still weld in those things?) I live in backwoods country here in S.ILL. + most of the salvage yards don't even carry a computerized inventory. I think I have, + I should have, are the operative words around here.
Thanks Again, Steve

See Sumit for a kit for the crossover or X pipe.
I would do a search for salvage yards on line. You might see if you can find someone selling heads.
You might see what Scott has in stock.

Do any of you guys have experience shipping stuff among members here? I need some ideas on whom to use when stuff is too heavy for UPS.
This is my line of work, but I can't believe the prices I'm being quoted to ship less than 90 lbs in a 3 by 3 by 3 package. I think I need to change trucking jobs, if these quotes are any indication of the LTL business.

Thanks TR. I already have one business that takes most of my available time + keeps me away from home.
Found out that UPS ships up 150 lbs. (according to their website)
Bought some stuff. Comp Cam #34-231-4, Holley 770, E-Brock Perf. Intake, 30 over pistons, roller rocker conversion kit.
My question is, should I install a shift kit on the auto C-6? I have zero, zip, nada tranny exp. + was wondering if I could do this myself? Or should I even bother with the above info? Steve

good choice on the cam :-) the carb is a little big though. as for the shift kit i wouldnt bother, theyll mask tranny pump problems sometimes, and if the tranny pump goes you dont move anymore, so its better to have some warning. if youre worried about your tranny id get it rebuilt, but if it works fine as is i wouldnt screw with it. c-6's are really good trannies

Thanks fellas on the shift kit issue. The carb came with a package deal I got from one of the forum members. Couldn't beat the price. I've still got the E-Brock 750 too.
