I don't know if you a interested or if it may help but I am pulling a flathead V8 out of my 52 F1. If you have a need for it let me know I am droping in a 428
I would be interested. I really want a flathead eight, but got frustrated with the two cracked blocks. I found out the 7HA is good. I will rebuild it, but does anyone know who sells rebuild kits for these. I want new bearings, gaskets, and any other recommend changes. PM if you are serious about selling the engine.
Thanks Kevin
I think the flat six is heck of an engine. I have one in my '49 F-2 and it really can take a beating and has only overheated on me once for some unknown reason. They used to race the flatsix back in the day. There isn't much of a horse power difference between the two, about 5hp. There was all kinds of high performance add ons for them too. Unfortunately, the flat eights are sexier so they are more popular. There are many parts made anymore, hi-po or stock.
You will be amazed how slick the H motor runs.My 8 broke the crankshaft and i had a running 7ha 6 that i installed. It could use rings as it smokes and uses oil but at speeds under 50 its just as powerful as the old 8.I found some alu. finned covers and paid too much for them as you can see only a little of the front one but painted up and chrome nut covers the old 6 is purddy as can be.
