bought another 53 8RT flathead

Well I did go and look on Friday-and purchased it, I forgot to grab the Compression testor etc(Dang it), so I couldn't check it. it ran really good as far as I could tell? It has a metal (assuming a rebuild tag) on the lower passenger side front just above the oil pan. it has some numbers stamped in it but not sure what they mean (92249). I couldn't make out the other data on the plate, looked like a name of rebuilder??? pretty greasy though. the odometer said 39000 but was not working so who knows.

the water pumps appear to be correct for my 51 so maybe they have been replaced at some point, do those look like the correct pumps for a 51?

Oh: also I couldn't figure out why they would grind the 8RT off the heads but they did!!! after I cleaned it a little better I could see where they had ground them off then repainted, seems really odd?? I also got a 4 speed trans with it from a different truck.
I'm planning on putting this in my truck for now and working on getting it back on the road, then see about rebuilding the other flathead,??

josh, they look to be the same as pumps on my rt, although the pan is backwards from mine. probably just the application? tag is from rebuilder, but have only guesses as to grinding heads

Hmmmmm... He "put oil in it and primed it through the distributor shaft and it definitely made oil pressure".... Oh-Kay.... I'd sure like to know how he did that!

ya that doesn't look to bad, the rebuild data plate looks pretty detailed too, I dont think I will ever know the specs without disasembling mine!
Ive heard of priming through the dist shaft of other engines- but didn't know you would get a pressure reading???
