Hi
ProtoTech Services Ltd markets a power steering kit for 1958 and later trucks. The kit uses a Ford steering gear and comes complete with adapter bracket and custom pitman arm. For more information please contact Steve at prototech@telusplanet.net

Adding PS/PB to a 59 4x4 is it possible?

I have a '58, one of the numerous former owners did a pretty scary job of installing a later model master cyl in my truck.(one of the numerous things on the things to un-screw up list) They did a stellar job of bolting it to the fire wall where the clutch cyl went.(they also did a spectacular job of installing a 351W/c-4) Heck, it even moves about an inch everytime I put my foot on the brake! Of course the brake pedal is on the left side of the steering column too making this thing even scarier to drive!(it also had a 12-inch steering wheel in it when I bought it) It doesn't look like too dificult a job to do this install right, just make sure you get the entire assembley out of the donor truck. I would even grab the proportioning valve too. I'm planning on removing it and moving it over to where it belong in the future. My guess is it came out of a mid/late 70's F-250 if that's any help. Power steering, now that's an idea who's time has come!
