Question Ps/pb

Other then the steering gear and the pump and hoses, what esle is needed to convert to PB? I have seen o.e. pumps and steering gear in one of the catalog's I have. What else do I need?

As for PB's I saw a PB kit in a catalog to convert my manual drums to power drums. I think it was mpi or something like that. Anyone used that product, easy as they say?

why not just use stock ford parts? the power brake units are on ebay all the time and power steering swaps are common too. for the steering you will need the column and firewall mounting plate as it is a couple of inches shorter. good luck, hawkrod

I agree with hawk to a point, I strongly urge you to buy a donor truck. Find one with the same type engine and tranny that you have or want to change to, and buy it. Harvest the needed parts and sell the ones that you don't. You should have your ps/pdb for free with sweat equity. and like Hawk says have genuwine Ford parts on your Ford truck.

Even better, you can get disc brakes in the bargain. Just get a 67-72 Camper Special, or any 73-79, as the donor, so long as it has power steering and power brakes. Discs give much better pedal feel and are much less likely to suffer in the rain or fade from overheating.

For some reason they're hard to find in these parts. You wouldn't think so given that this is Ford's Home but alas it is so. Also I am using a Chevy 350 so I'm not sticking to the original plan anyway.

I picked up a power brake booster from Autozone a number of years ago for not a lot of money. You will have to modify the plunger rod, but that's about it.

I started with a junkyard booster and master cylinder from a '73, but the booster quickly went bad (massive vacuum leak inside). You won't need a core at Autozone at least since it's a new unit. You could also easily pick up a master cylinder for the same year truck.
