I had posted in your other thread as you probably know. I think it may have been deleted due to your screen name change info. Here's the question again (cut and paste) so I can hopefully get to see your answer. Thanks again for any help.
From searching through the stereo forum it appears you are pretty knowledgeable with car audio stuff. I have been trying to find some good advice about some system upgrade stuff for my 2005 F-250 crew cab. Unfortunately I'm not having much luck.
If it's not to much of a bother could you please give me your advice.
I'm looking to upgrade the stock system. I'd like to keep the factory 6 disc head unit as I like the stock look plus I would like to keep my steering wheel controls. I'm looking for a system with more volume and more bass. I don't need anything to shake the buildings around me but just some good quality sound with more volume. The factory system is pretty anemic.
Can I accomplish this with an amp and new speakers or will I need to add a sub also?
I'm was hoping to do this for around $1000 (I'll be doing the installation myself). Will I see a pretty noticeable improvement for that kind of money?
I'm pretty mechanical until it comes to car audio. Will most of these components be "plug and play" or come with good wiring direction?
Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated!!
You can use the factory unit by buying a interface to hook aftermarket amp to it. I'd put a 4 channel amp on the door speakers & a mono amp on a 10 inch sub. I'd replace the factory speakers with a good set of 2 way components in all the doors. You could use a 5 channel amp & run everything with it.

Any suggestions on what brand is best? Is a $1000 a realistic price to buy 4 good speakers, an amp and a sub?
If I buy an amp and new speakers will I be able to tap in to the factory stereo speaker wires to feed the interface, then run the interface to the amp and then tap the amp to the factory speaker wires? Or will I need to rewire ecerything? This may sound dumb but it's coming from someone that knows pretty much nothing about aftermarket stereo stuff. lol
