Question Stock radio wont work when its cold outside.

I'm having a problem with my stock cd/stereo system in my 2000 f250. This just started happening this week when the weather at night got down to 35 or 40 degrees. The radio or cd wont turn on or play in the morning. After the day has warmed up in the afternoon or so the radio\cd functions as it should.
The radio controls will light up when i turn on the headlights. The cd will eject but it wont play. The clock will come on when the button is held. I checked all fuses and everything checks out. Just wont play until the temp. has warmed up outside. This one has me stumped. Thanks

I've seen that before many times. I used to work for the Ford radio warranty dept. Would go to the dealerships and work on the Ford audio warranty jobs.

Contact my old employer Broadway Radio Shop. Ask for Kelvin. Tell him Travis from KC Autosound told ya to call him. Hell take care of ya. 816-753-1960. Might be a fix for it. I know my factory 6 disk that came out of my excursion acts funny in the cold. My volume **** reverses. Turn it down and it goes up. That unit sits in the closet now till I get rid of the truck. Let someone else deal with it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess one of those gremlins that comes with age. 6 years old. Pretty much decided to upgrade with aftermarket head unit. Like you. When comes time to trade or sell. Put it back in and let it be some one elses worry. Thanks.

I have an 06 that when I start my truck, it takes at least 5-10 minutes for the stereo to come on. It doesn't matter what the weather is like. It doesn't show time, radio, nothing. I am going by the dealership today to have it checked out! It is fine in the afternoon just in the mornings. and once it comes on, it will shut off when I press my brakes and such. I don't know but it is frustrating.

Sounds like a ground problem with both of you. When it warms up, wires expand, making contact. I'd start by ohming out both pos and neg wiring....while it's cold!

My old 01 volume control would not work right when it was cold. Most of the time the volume would only go up. You could not turn it down until you turned it off or it warmed up. Never got it fixed. Just got a new truck.
