I want to delete the stock muffler and just run a delete pipe on a 2005 F-350 Diesel. Can someone please tell me what they did and how it sounded? I spend a long time in it on weekends and I don't want it too loud in the cab. If it is too loud I found a muffler to fit it and it's 16 1/2" long straight through.I was looking for a diesel that had the exhaust exit before the rear tire this weekend and I drove through three states and I have never come accost a side exhaust! Are there any problems with this? It looked good on my F-250 5.4 V8.
On mine, I had a shop cut off the muffler, rotate the "s pipe" which was just before the muffler 180*, which brought the inlet to the new pipe closer to the tailpipe height. Then I had them weld in a new piece of straight 3.5" pipe.
The sound will be different on your 6.0, but 6.0s sound great straight-piped, as well. It won't be too loud at all w/ the windows up (you probably won't notice any difference), but w/ the windows down you'll hear it.
An exit before the rear tire would be fine, also... will be louder, and probably will get your rear tire/wheel all black w/ soot, so might want to consider those things if you're thinking of doing the exit before the rear tire.
