Is doing a Muffler Delete really that simple?
Is the muffler delete really as simple as it sounds, I have a 99 7.3 long bed, ext cab and no cat. Is it really just as simple as cutting off the muffler and installing a delete pipe with exhaust clamps? I say exhaust clamps because I have no welder and dont want to take it to a shop.

Do you have a stock exhaust or an aftermarket one?
Most aftermarket exhaust systems have a bolt on muffler so it's as easy as unbolting the clamps, removing the muffler, and substituting the delete pipe.
If you've got a stock exhaust, you'll have to cut the muffler out and either buy a delete pipe meant for a stock exhaust, or get a pipe and get the ends flared so you can slip it in there and clamp it in place.

Its all stock exhaust, Id just buy a delete pipe and be done with it. And as for exhaust leaks I dont feel I'd really have a problem as the truck doesnt throw smoke at all and it being so far back wont hurt anything anyway. I can alway cut a small notch into the ends to help the delete pipe tighten down. But thank you guys I looked around a lot but couldnt find that much info on muffler deletes I guess because its so simple haha much appreciated input, thanks

Yes! and No!
One Hangar is attached to the Stock Muffler. The Delete Pipe doesn't have one welded on (unless you found one that does). So, there is really only one holding the system on after the cab.
You could just get a strap or hangar from a parts store. Welding it would be best. Or, someone else suggested 4"ID Flex Pipe.
If you decide you don't like it, you probably won't find a shop with 4" pipe or hangars. 3" is about as big as most automotive shops go. So, hold on to the stock muffler.
"Some" have complained abour drone noise. But, I think they were the short bed 4 Dr
Another option is the BTM (Big Truck Muffler) Mod.
For the most part, our trucks don't have much issue getting air out, its getting air in.

Don't use the "U" clamps when you cut the muffler out and install the delete pipe. Use the clamps that don't distort the pipe and cause issues when you decide remove it because either the noise or the drone is too much. Then once you get the exhaust system the way you want it have it welded.
These work well and don't crush the pipe.
