Pabs, you might have air in the system, do you have some one pushing in the shrader valve while you crank it over? A word of caution....do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds at a time [3 minute cool down time] or it will damage your starter.
If you took the supply line to the filter off and had lots of fuel, then reinstalled it and had none at the schrader valve, either your filter is not letting fuel through or you have something in the filter inlet elbow that is blocking the fuel.
Just because something is new, does not make it good.
I have taken new parts out of a box that wherein far worse shape than the part it was going to replace on many occasions.
After thinking for a couple minutes, are you getting fuel out of the filter outlet to the IP?
There could be something blocking the schrader valve inside the filter housing.

No fuel going to the ip, dave.s I'll have to check to see if there is a blockage at the filter elbow and let you now.The batterys are fine i put a charge on them befor i try cranking.I'll keep you posted.
