Thumbs up progress compression and have ??s

I finaly took the valve cover of on my 91 f-250 7.3 idi and noticed it had a broken exhaust valve spring.These engines are not interfeirance engine are they?Also i'm having trouble finding the spring can i go to a international dealer? and if so what do say the engine is?Thanks for all the info in the past i read a lot of the threads.Man is there tons of them.Help is greatly appreciated.

Yes go to Navistar/IH tell them it's exactly what it is a 7.3 non turbo IDI and you need a exhaust valve spring and keepers. There are 2 springs in the valve spring settup, an outer and inner which unless your cranking horrendous rpm will usually not allow piston valve contact but you may have a tinkleing noise from the engine.....loose spring/ valve parts.

jujst making sure thanks.Should i change all the valve springs?Or just the one thats broke?I've ordered just one all the others look fine all the other cylinders have 400 psi should be good huh?

i would suggest getting all new ones. Springs loose their strength over time, if youve got the valve covers off and youve got to do one, might as well do the other 15.

For glo plugs go with the beru's that say made in germany on the side autozone has them for around $10 each

I just went to local diesel shop, they want $19.95 each Cdn. I can't immagine Ford is that much more....no Autozone up here unfortunely

Wait a minute, I guess we did.

Glow plugs, Motorcraft/Beru ZD 9 is the only one you want to install, the others are trouble.

At that price it would probably be cheaper to ORDER them from Autozone and have them shipped to you. They only weigh an ounce or two apiece, shipping couldn't be all that much.....

Yep... I pulled a glow plug out of mine on friday night only to find autolite ones.... YUCK!! I phoned ford and with my shop discount it was $170 ( canadian ) taxes in for all 8....

I did them... made sure those autolits were all gone!!

I know a guy who knows a guy who can get the Glow Plugs from Ford $154.00 Cdn including tax and yes Cheaper your probaly right it would be a lot cheaper to get them from Autozone, I spent 3 weeks in Washington, I could of picked them myself...story of my life---coulda, woulda, shoulda!

o.k here is an update.Exhaust valve spring is in.Olny changed the one.now cylinder also has 400 psi.all are same now.BUT THE STUPID TTRUCK WONT START.ran before but now no.I crank the truck and hold the valve on the filter in but nothing comes out.So i take the feed line to the filter off and lots of fuel.Crack injector lines and very very little trickles out but nothing at filter im puzzled.Keep tryin??Plaese help it weird.
