Dana 60 question

I was wondering if anything from a dana 50, from 80's 3/4 ton, will interchange w/ anything from a dana 60. I have an eaton rear end, and I am turning it into a front end. plan on basically running a dana 60 axle shaft in it. and I have a Dana 50, I can rob all the outers from, (spindle out), or maybe even the knuckle and all. does anyone know if the spindle on the dana 50 is big enough for the dana 60 axleshafts?, and do the hubs interchange?, BTW machining on the CNC is not a problem, def. have access to it!, but if anyone could tell me any of that, it would help tons!, thanks!

the rotors/hubs i know swap over, the bearings are exactly the same. if i remember correctly the spindles are big enough to house the D60 shafts but i think the bolt pattern is different (on the spindle) than the D60.

but since I am making my own front end basically, I could just use the Dana 50 steering knuckles and everything then, and weld them onto the tubes for the Eaton Rear....and do some machining to get the D60 axle to fit the Eaton side gears. sweet......I think it's all possible!....Oh, and do the 50, and 60 have the same axle U-joint?, and/or is the stub shaft the same?

The spindles share the same bolt pattern, as well as all diameter measurements, but they are necessarily interchangeably as both Dana 50 and 60 spindle length measurements changed slightly throughout the years. I have also been told that if you do use Dana 50 inner-knuckles, you will be limited to using Dana 50 knuckles because they have a slightly different inclination at which they rotate at the balljoints. However, I was never able to confirm that information first hand. Also, Dana 60 u-joints are larger. And there is lots of aftermarket support for Dana 60 shafts, so it's the best way to go.

yea, I was plannin' to use all D60 shafts, w/ D50 steering knuckles and everything out from that, only because I have them already.....on a truck I need to change the front end out of....so the D50 in it, is free game for anything!.....sweet....just gets better and better!.....thanks guys!....now to find out, I doubt anyone would know BUT, would D60 shafts fit into the side gears from a GM 14 bolt rear?.....because I can use 14 bolt side gears in the Eaton....BTW, the Eaton has 17 spline axles......REAL big splines.....so I can't use those side gears!....unless I get custom axles.....

Both shafts are 1-1/2", but unfortunately the Dana 60 has 35 splines while the 14-bolt has 30 splines.

The dana 60 30 spline axle shafts are 1.31" in diameter and the 14 bolt shafts are 1.5" in diameter

yea, and that is only the outer shafts. all front D60 inners are 1.5", 35 spline....I was looking it up earlier But, I can put D70 out shafts in it....and have 1.5" 35 spline inner and outer shafts! I'll just have to have some custom inners made I guess.....

Some dodge front dana 60's had 30 spline inners I believe, but I could be wrong.

But were they 1.3" dia, or 1.5 dia?.....I'm probly just going to have some custom axles made to fit the eaton 17 spline 1.5" side gears just so I don't have to even bother getting ones from a 14 bolt.....and I might as well get cr-mo ones while I'm there!
