We could have a GTG for those who would are thinking about going. Most likely it would be at my place as I have pic's and maps of most of this.

And as I said if folks want to go out the week before or the week after to do other stuff I'm up for that also. And if you want to camp inside you can do that at most places also.

Chad came over yesterday and we did some talking about the trip. I'm still wanting to go early and stay late and take a break or two in the middle. Have to see how that works out. Was setting around this morning and I had a thought. I have two 4x4's. While Green is not ready for those trials. Well at least not ready enough to do them with the time we have out that way. But it would make a good base camp truck and do the stuff I want to do early and late and on the break I want to take. So if we have another driver and they want to spend the $$'s for the fuel Green will be available for the trip. Even has room to strech out in and sleep if you want.

Sundance is looking for another truck. The Denver weather bit him last week. I was looking for some red lines on my lap top last saturday to show folks where were going and couldn't find them. Looked at another location and found them. I need to do more mapping than I thought on the section between Bluff and Clay Hills pass. So I think I'll skip trying to get over on the west side of Lake Powell and not do the trail off Cottonwood Rd. in the Monument.

If I can I'd like to leave town on Friday and start the trip Saturday morning at Comb Ridge just west of Bluff. If that dosen't work for folks we can start Sunday morning somewhere west of Blanding.

Bad news, I'm out. 2 other guys put in for vacation at that same time and I being low man, got the shaft.... well anyhoo, guess I'll try for the colorado trip, next. On call rotation also blocks out torg trips on the 3rd weekend of the month , and July4th too..... :-( Sad day. But at least next year I won't be the new guy.

Updated schedule for this trip:

I will camp at Comb Ridge near Bluff Utah Friday night April 13th.

Saturday April 14th we will attempt to get to San Juan Hill at the South end of Comb Ridge. The trail follows Comb Wash South off of Hwy 163 along the west side of Comb Ridge. Just have to see want the spring thaw does. If it has the wash filled with fast moving water we will have to save this for another time. After the attempt to go south we will go north to Sand Flats Rd. and then NW to Hwy 261. This is a approximation of the original Hole-In-The-Rock Rd. that went from Escalante to Bluff in the late 1870's. A quick trip back to near Bluff to retrieve a trailer and tow vehicle. Then back to 261 and on up and over to Halls Crossing where folks are spending the night. I will camp either in Halls Crossing at the campground or near the "The Fort" on HITR road.

Sunday April 15th we will go in the Hole-In-The-Rock Jeep trail. This follows some of the that 1870's road but much of the road was used in the 1940's and 50's for minning. Sunday night we will camp near Cottonwood Hill.

Monday April 16th we will drive out and some will go back to Halls Crossing to spend the night. I will camp some where.

Tuesday April 17th we will work out way over to Blanding. The 1870's road left the Hwy East of Clay Hills pass and we will drive that section. Some will spend Tuesday night in Blanding. I will camp west of Blanding.

Wednesday April 18th we will drive the Hotel Rock Trail west of Blanding. Some will return to Blanding to spend the night. I will camp some where.

Thursday April 19th we will go into Canyonlands Needles district west of Monticello and drive the Elephant Trail. Thursday night some will drive to Moab and spend the night. I will camp some where. Most likely south of Moab.

Friday April 20th we will drive Poison Spider trail outside of Moab.

Showers are available in Halls Crossing, Blanding, and Moab for those who want to camp.

I am up for going out early or staying out late. Let me know if there is something you want to do. I'd like to get to Green River and see what is going on at the old test site. Wouldn't mind going on west over to the Swell or Monument.

Chris from the BroncoII.org board has reservations in Bluff for Friday April 13th. I won't know if I'll camp for free with no facilities out at Comb or stay in a room in Bluff. Depends on the water level in Comb Wash. I have the phone number for Halls Crossing to reserve a campsite or moble home. Let me know if you need info to make reservations.

Glad you made over this way Chris. I've decided to go with Rust Bullet for the finish on Jr. Looks like it will be ready in time.

Rust Bullet. I don't think I've seen that color - BWAHAHAHA!!

I got the 8.8 skid in, new chip in the PSD and stuffed a new NAPA 6637 air filter into my AFE cold air box. Dry and dusty as it'll prolly be over there in SE UT, I'm not taking any chances with the oiled AFE air filter.

Rust Bullet is Metalic Gray.

Make sure the AC is charged in case also. Chap stick, and some kind of bug be gone stuff (I use cigars) needs to be packed.

The AC is in good shape but getting it charged is a good idea. Gone are the days when you can buy a can of R12 any more. Gotta take it to a shop now. I just figured I'd better replace the water pump too. It's started a real slow leak.

And yeah - I'll help you with the "bug repellant!" Got a few of my own to smoke up.
