replacement water pump still leaking
1970 F100 302 water pump was leaking - replaced and now it's leaking around the bolt holes for the alternator bracket - all input welcome -- everything I fix on this truck seems to turn into 2 more problems

newkyford,do the bolt holes in that area go into the water jacket in the block or intake manifold ?My 390 does that on the passenger side so I use thread sealer on the bolt threads and a flat washer instead of a split loc washer at the bolt head and I have never had a leak at that point.Also put a dab of silicon sealer on the flat washer both sides before you tighten.Hope this helps.PS, check first that you do not have a cracked or deformed water pump.

thanks for the help! I went back and found two of holes were plugged with silicone. I got that cleaned out, went to the farm supply store for bolts, dabbed on sealant and replaced it all. that was 36 hours ago - so far so good.
