2004 Explorer 4x4 4.0l. I have an Actron OBDII code scanner and get an error when I try to read the codes. I have checked all of the fuses under the dash and under the hood and can't find one blown. The CEL is driving my wife crazy. Any ideas? Is there another fuse location?
There is no data link fuse that I can find. There is no lighter. There is a power port but it is working.
I tested the scanner on my Expedition and it works fine. I have tried it on a couple others also and it works.
Your car uses "Controller Area Networking (CAN)" technology which is only compatible with CAN compatible scanners. It's fairly new technology and won't communicate with generic OBDII scanners.
See if autozone will pull the codes for you, they usually do so for free.. (as long as THEIR scanners are CAN compatible)
