Gas tank relocation

I need to know the best way to relocate the gas tank from the cab to under the bed or elsewhere. Is there any tanks from a junkyard that would work for this application? I also would like to know what the best sources for reproduction tanks are to go insided the cab? I am needing to know this for a friend and I want to explore all options. Thank you!

Aaron

go to my page... look in the left frame for an article on Mustang Tank install... it will tell you what you have to do.. there is also a rear tank redo with an Isuzu tank... do a search on this forum on Isuzu and you should see some post on it also..

Gas tank relocation

John has an awsome article there. I myself have put 68 Mustang Gas tanks in both my panel, and my 55 f100. Just had to remove crossmember and then added support elsewhere.

Gas tank relocation

John has an awsome web site. If you haven't been there highly reccommend a visit. There are lots of tanks that will fit simply by relocating crossmember. I have one from a 77 Chev van that I plan to use, appears to be simple fit with a little engineering.;-)

Gas tank relocation

I just bought a new Mustang tank kit from a source on EBay. It comes with the pick up and sending unit. Although you may not be able to use the sending unit unless you use a Ford gauge. I didn't feel comfortable using a used tank because you never know the condition inside it. The tank cost $120 which probably isn't too much more than you might pay for a decent used one along with the cost of having it cleaned. Use John's article for a guide and you can't go wrong with this tank swap.

Post Gas tank relocation

I ordered a 17.5 gallon universal steel tank from a company in Clearwater, Mn. for $225. and it looks reeal good. I didn't want to cut my frame and the stainless and poly tanks were not good choices.

P.S. Sender not included.
