Best ODB-2 code reader for our trucks? Autoenginuity?
I just bought an Innova dtc reader and what a piece of crap. It looked cool cause I thought it would actually run all the test that it said it would. Now that I've used it I know different. It only runs a misfire test. The other ten test apparently aren't supported. Anybody know of a better code reader for our trucks. I know Autoenginuity is good but, what all test can I run with it? I saw one on Ebay with a dyno program. It's not much more than what I paid for the one I got tonight.
AE is the real deal when it comes to affordable scanners. Not only can you run KOEO,KOER,CCT,BUZZ test but you can monitor live data from about any sensor on our trucks and datalog it for later review.
You will need the enhanced ford package ~380 from www.autoenginuity.com or you can get it from www.itpdiesel.com a little cheaper and dennis has a forum dedicated to AE
That is the speed tracer I have not used it but the manual reads that all you do is click start and then drive. Ther are alot of parameters that have to be set to make it work correctly I just havent taken the time to do it
Okay I was just wondering cause a garage close to me is closing and they have a set of inground rollers for pretty cheap. It would be a nice setup for my garage someday. The guy doesn't have the computer or software to run it but, I'm sure I could find something. Maybe I'll go ahead and get the enhanced ford reader from Dennis. I'm sending back my DP-Tuner to be reburned so I'll get cheaper shipping probably.

Reason: typo
I've used a variety of different code readers over the past several years, and the AE software is just so much better than anything I've used before. It's easy to use and provides a lot of information for you. A lot of info besides just pulling codes too.
All of the elements of the Speed Tracer program don't work on our trucks. We're missing 2 of the sensor necessary to have full functionality of it. It will still measure 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, but I'm not sure about the dyno programs. You can email Jay at AE to find out for sure what will and won't work.
I got mine from ITP, but still get great support from Jay at AE.
