While getting ready to leave on Vacation this morning I noticed a drip under the truck. In checking more I found a tube on the right side of the engine toward the front that had fuel dripping out of it. In checking more I see it is the drain tube for the water fuel filter. I opened and closed the drain valve several time and drained out some fuel. The dripping has stopped how hard is it to change this valve and if it happens on the road can I just plug the drain tube till I can get the valve changed? Thanks all. I have a F-250 PS Diesel 7.3

The valve isn't too tough to change. You can get the whole replacement kit from Ford, or the o-rings from Garrett at Pure Diesel Power. There are four little screws that hold the drain leverl/valve in place. I think there may be some relevant links in the common mods/maintenance thread in the sticky at the top of this forum.
If it starts dripping while on the road, it probably won't be a big deal as it'll be a slow drip. I'd imagine you could just plug it up if you didn't want it dripping and it'd be okay in the mean time.
Sometimes the valve can get a bit of trash in it and working it back and forth can clear it. If it is the o-rings they will get worse over time. Since you are on the road I would stop at a ford shop and get the assembly ~71 bucks just in case. Mine got to leaking so bad I was down to 3 MPG. All you need to replace is a 1/4" ratchet and T20 torx bit......... oh and a cool engine helps
Thanks all for the help on my problem now I know what is happening and how to fix it. If it starts leaking bad I will go and have it fixed someplace I can plug it if it get worse. Thanks again for all you fine folks.

Take photo's of your knuckles for the before and after effect. My Buick swallowed my 1/4 drive so I used a 3/8 with an extension and the T20 and accessed it from behind the intake hat. Gee that was fun.
