Has anyone converted the stock ignition system over to electronic on a 65 240-6, and if so with what results? I'm having a terrible time getting my stock distributor set up right.
Help!
Your best bet is to surf onto the Mallory website, they make a UNI-lite ignition system that is foolproof to install. There is also a place called pertronix, I'm not too sure on this one but check to see if it has a website. It is a basic bolt in , using the stock dist. and vacum advance, ciol, etc.
good luck!
As a hobbie I've restored several 67-72 F100 SWB's with anything from 240-300-289-351W (I like to keep it simple). The restorations usually include the addition of power steering, power disc brakes, A/C and almost always automatic trans. In almost all I've tossed the points and condensor and installed a Petronics set up and have never had a problem. If it would make you feel better you could always put a set of points and condensor in the glovebox for that warm and fuzzy feeling.
Thanks guys,
I'll check out the Mallory system.
Bob, I've heard of the pertronix igintion, I just haven't had any experience with it.
I don't have any problem doing away with the points and condensor. If I carried a set of points and condensor around with me in the glove box I'd feel like a Harley rider.
I appreciate the input.
Thanks for the input Frank. I've got a pertronix
system on order right now.
The only thing that giving me problems now is the
primary and secondary spring settings on the
vacuum advance plate being out of adjustment.
