the front wheel bearing and the hub are all one piece I'm not sure of the part# but I do know you will not like the price especially if it has front abs. hope this helps
Yeah I just had mine replaced on the driver's side front. $380 for the assembly. I don't know the part number, however you can get it from Ford. Look on the back side of the front axle, there's a sticker with a yellow stripe on it (should be on the axle housing near the pumpkin), your dealer needs the number off that. Apparently there are several different ones for 2002, so your dealer needs that number to locate the right one.
the new style hub is sealed and suposedly greased at the factory. I did try to get it apart, it took a machine shops press and time it came apart I had to buy a new one anyway. someone needs to figure out a way to drill and tap for a grease fitting.
It depends on which bearing. There are two in the hub. One is a sealed bearing, and it cannot be replaced or serviced without replacing the whole hub. The other is a typical needle bearing, and it is servicable. I've recently replaced my needle bearings, and others have serviced theirs. Guzzle has a nice writeup on servicing those bearings. Well with no picture, I dont know if I would trust that haha. I like the Napa one because it comes with a lifetime warranty, plus, its quality... And cheaper than the dealer.
The hub from e-bay is non ABS and of course I need ABS. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay at NAPA? I had ordered all of the parts from ford to service the needle bearings and rebuild the locking hubs before I found out I needed new hubs so I hope I can return the parts for the hub to ford because the new hubs come with all new parts right? Does anyone know the ford part # for the locking hub bearing?
Edit- I just found one on his e-bay sore that is 4x4 with 4 wheel ABS for $250. Is this a deal or what. I would rather have one with a life time warranty and good quality like the one from NAPA but since I need 2 of them, $250 is better than $400.
i'm of the opinion at this point that i can by 2 cheaper than i can by one napa. If it runs another 50-100,000 and i have to do it again well i'm still coming out cheaper. by 300,000 i'm going to have more worries than a new hub
Napa has the abs version. Integral wheel bearing they call it.
Sometimes referred to as "the ones for 300 bucks" or "Ooh". A pain in the rear I call it.
Remember to go to ford to get the seals and studs. It will save you time.
