I have read in the past re: removing the steering column, but can't find it. I'm off to the junk yard in about two hours to pull one out. Any tips would be appreciated. I'm also concerned about removing the one in our 95 2WD, especially when dealing with the airbag. (the one on the column, not me!)
The reason I'm pulling it out is that the tranny shifter lever does not shift properly into reverse, and I have exhausted the other options (looking at the lever on the tranny housing, adjustment at bottom of column, anything else?) The lever itself feels really loose, and I hoping it will be easier just to pop a new column in, rather than pulling the current one apart. I need to replace the ig. switch anyway.
I think mine has the same problem. Copper mentioned once there was a collar in the mechanismthat might have broken in half. I'd weld/glue/whatever it back together if I could figure out how to get to the thing. I have also thought od dismantling the linking and putting in a floor shifter. Not looking forward to that, either.
