Curiosity killed the steering column
Been a while since I posted last. Was recently changing out the turn signal switch in a automatic 79' column. While I was in there about to put back together was thinking about selector lever that changes the gears. Usually when you pull the handle back pull the lever down to your desired gear and when you let go the handle will automatically return so that it's not testing close to the steering wheel and sorry of in a hold or lock position. In my case it just kind of flops back and forth with no pressure to out.
But anyways keep in mind I know nothing about columns and was just kind of exploring and thought why not see if it can be fixed since I'm already in there anyways. Stop I removed the two nuts that see behind the turn signal switch that hold the shifter in place pulled it out a little to get a better look and the shaft that runs down the tube pulled out with it.
The problem is now I can't get it back together and waa hoping there was a solution without having to remove the column from the truck and performing major surgery.
This was definitely not one of my brightest ideas but is one that I made and need to get resolved. Any tips our solutions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for writing a book.
