CCV and BPRV mod questions

Still kind of a newbie- I was wondering, on my 99 7.3, what exactly does the CCV mod do for performance, is it a noticable difference? Also, I'm runnig a Diablosport tuner set to an extra 60hp. I reach the 24 lbs of boost that shuts off the fuel flow, and it pisses me off when I'm in the process of smokin' a rice burner and I suddenly freaking die . I was thinking about installing the relief valve in line with my boost gauge line to trick the computer, but what will that do? Will my fuel flow remain uninterrupted, and I guess my boost gauge will only read what the relief valve allows?

Thanks!!
Dan

CCV mod really doesn't do anything for performance. It's just a way to keep oil out of the intake, which ends up seeping out of the intercooler boots and makes a dirty mess in the engine bay. Sometimes that oily residue causes boots to pop off. The only way that performance could be hurt is if you have a lot of oil that has collected in the intercooler.

As far as the fuel shutoff, sounds like it's getting an overboost code. A blowoff valve or a boost controller in the map sensor line will take care of that.

Thread moved to 7.3L section.

The CCV mod sort of helps performance in that it removes a restriction in the intake, and can help make your intercooling more efficient as there should be less oil coating everything in there. The other good benefit is like pocket mentioned, the intercooler boots will hopefully stay clean and grip well, where they'd otherwise be oily and slippery and such. Doing the CCV mod won't make any seat of the pants difference, but just helps things work better... bit of less intake restriction, better intercooling, cleaner engine compartment.

Yes, the fuel shutoff thing is from overboost... best fix for it is a boost relief valve from Dennis at ITP Diesel:
