Coil/Leaf Spring Replacement

How difficult is it to replace the front coil and rear leaf springs on a 66 2wd, swb slick?

Is it something I can tackle myself or should I spend the $300 plus the local shops want to do it?

Also, is there suppose to be a diffenence in length on the coils for this truck? It has king pins and I've seen a number of post but no clear cut answer to this question.

Thanks

Ronin, if you can walk to the garage and open a beer, YOU CAN DO IT! Especially if they are new. I just put ones in my 66 F-250, new front coils, and an add-a-leaf in the rear. No problem, however while you are doing it, if you haven't yet, I would replace all the bushings in the front end, radius arms, and axle pivots, they are cheap and easy to do and well worth the change in the handling.
I put coil springs for a 94 F-150 w/1 1/2" of lift in my F-250, brought up the front end nicely, the only thing I had to do was cut (using a friends Plasma cutter) the top curved in coil off the spring, the bottom matches up, I think it was an 1 1/8" wrench to remove the bottom nut holding the coils to the I-Beams. If you are just replacing with stock, it will be easier. you will need to have 2 jacks and jackstands, support it by the frame and then use a jack under the I-beam to raise and lower and support while you are changing the springs, might as well do the shocks since you are there and need to remove them anyways.
The rear, if you have new springs is a snap, or the add-a-leaf is some work but nothing to be scared of.
