Going to have my 66 slick painted at some point in the future and there are a number of paint shops here in the Houston area (southwest).
Looking for someone who's "been there, done that" and can suggest how to go about finding the best place to get my work done.
NOT looking for show quality cause its a heinz 57 variety kinda truck, 71 Torino 302, mid 70's 4 speed manual, you get the idea. But the body is in super shape and its a very strong running vehicle.
Looking for a good paint prep, and clear coat on top of a quality paint job.
Anybody out there who's knows of, has used, can recommend someone i could talk to in this regard?
Please email me any info you may have and be willing to share.
I'd say if you want "cheap and good" then do it yourself. If you have to redo anything it's still cheaper. As for folks out there my brother just moved to Cali two years ago and has friends there in the Pasadena/South Houston area that are custom paint and body, fab work etc.. guys. I will ask him this evening for the info. Option B would be to ask someone at a local highschool to do it as a project.
redmanbob: good thoughts. in the old days, like when i was in college, eons ago, and couldn't afford it, i did the painting myself. problem today is i dont' have the place nor tools to do it right.
not that i want "cheap" but a quality job, just not a gazillion coats of laquer and all that.
appreciate anything you come up with and thanks again.
