My 66 slick with a 302(replacement engine) currently does not have a heating system.
I'm about to re-install the system to include a heater core and applicable hoses.
On top of the engine, where the hoses connect, there is a male nipple out of the engine block, and another male nipple out of the water pump housing. They are approximately 4 - 5 inches apart.
Currently they connected to each other via a hose.
Taking that into account, what is the proper connection for the hoses from the engine side to the core side?
Does it matter which of the two connections on the heater core side the hoses are connected to?
2 nipples on the front of my 76 302 was bridged together with a hose that was bent weirdly.
it had one hose that went off the back of the engine to the core, and one on the pump for the heating.
im refrencing my cobra engine from my 76 cobraII 302.
If you want to be exact then connect the water pump hose to the left side of the heater core sitting in the firewall. Connect the hose from the manifold to the right side of the heater core as you face it.
Don't forget, you'll need an inline heater temperature control valve. The valve splices into the input heater hose, and the heater temperature control cable attaches to it. By pulling the ****, the cable will allow water to flow to the heater core. Without the valve, there's no way to shut off water to the heater core, making it a trifle warm inside the cab on a hot day.
