Some of you may recall my "epic journey" recently to correct my 66 slick brake light, turn signal and running light issues.
One of the remaining problems is that the smaller of the two filaments in the bulb lights as appossed to the larger filament, when the brakes are applied.
Someone indicated that the fix is a realitively easy one.
Suggestions, directions on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated.
If you put twelve volts to the brass,or cylindrical part of dual element lightbulb, you can readily tell which is the brighter. On the 1157 lightbulb, the shorter filament is the brighter (stop/turn),and the taller is taillight.
If swapping the wires does not work, you have a socket problem/wrong socket. The bulb should be the 1157. Make sure it is.
If you get someone to hold the brakes, one of the wires should be hot. Touch it to one of the socket wires and one of the filaments should light. Touch it to the other wire and the other filament should light.
I inadvertently left out that you put the other lead of your twelve volt source to each of the "lugs" on the bulb to determine the brightest, sorry for any confusion.
