Explorer idles rough cold
Hello everyone!! New to this forum, was hoping somebody could help me with my problem. Pleeeeease!! I have a 1998 Explorer Sport 4.0 SOHC. The problem I have is cold weather. I have no problems with the idle during the warmer/summer months, ONLY during the cold season here in Florida my truck will not idle like it does when it's warm outside. I can drive the truck in the cold weather and after a few miles all is smooth and normal. If it sits too long in the cold weather it idles incredibly ROUGH again till it's up to operating temp. I realize the my little Sport is spoiled since it has been in Florida since new, but c'mon I treat it good otherwise! Anyone with with some suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Your intake gaskets are leaking when it's cold. Seen it a lot on the SOHC. Won't set a code either because by the time engine reaches closed-loop operation, the gaskets have warmed up and sealed up.
They look like rubber bands, and you'll notice the replacements are much thicker than the originals.
