I apologize in advance, I'm new to this diesel thing. Today, I drove from Florida to Georgia in temps between 40-20 degrees. My truck ran with alot higher boost then it normally runs through the mountains. Is that due to the cold weather or should I take the truck to Ford to look at it. The boost ran about 50% it was in the center of the boost gauge.
I'd imagine that your driving threw mountains your vehicle is working
harding than on flats.
And when you where on flats again it mostlikely returned to normal?
If that's the case than no problem to worry bout. Turbo boost increases as
rpm's increase, etc....
Hope this helps
Thanks guys I appreciate the help. I'm so used to a gas truck. I'm trying to get familiar with the whole diesel thing and its nice to have a site to go an ask questions. Thanks again and everyone have a good "Turkey Day."
Isee boost levels past the halfway mark on my boost gauge all the time. Accelerating to get on a freeway onramp or just speeding up on the highway will produce boost psi's past 30 pounds. I always thought this was normal. Is it not?

Yeah, same here, I'm always running boost past halfway, everytime I drive it.
I'm at 5000 ft in Utah and with my trailer, my boost gets up to 39 and stays there sometimes for minutes at a time in the mountains. Sometimes the wastegate will open and dump it as you let off the gas. Thats an erie sound, but normal. Also at that pressure I've blown off the lower intercooler tube 4 times. That sounds like the damn engine blew up. NOT normal!
