i just bought a y block and the numbers on it is c2ae and the heads are c1ae.now i looked and seen it a 292 but it has these big horn looking exhaust manifolds that dump in the middle.is this a car engine with these manifolds or what?i have a 56 victoria i was wanting to put it in and it has a auto trans this motor came with a bell for standerd.so i want to now if this will bolt up to the auto.thanks
That is a truck manifold won't work in a car but worth something to this site, the truck I think use a diffrent oil pan and I think water pump and pully arangement, I am sure others will chime in and offer more little things. It is a doable swap though. Gerry
The C2AE was the last model of Y-block, so your motor would be from '62-'64. Since it has Rams Horn exhausts, it may have been taken out of an F-600, in which case you would have a very heavy duty engine, with special pistons, rods, and forged crank. Or someone may have just added the Rams Horns onto a light duty truck motor. You may be able to tell if the crank is the heavy duty forged or standard cast crank by looking at the edge of the rear flange where the flywheel bolts on. Go to www.ford-y-block.com and there are some drawings of identifying marks to look for on the rear flange.
Like Gerry 54 said, the center dump manifolds will not work in your car. But I will buy them from you for, oh $100. LOL. Actually if they are in good shape they are worth $250-$400 for the pair on ebay.
Change the rear sump oil pan to front sump, and put on a car water pump and pulley. Hopefully the motor includes the distributor, in which case you would want a 57 and later carb if it isnt already attached. I dont think it is a problem to use the truck timing cover in a car, however the reverse doesnt work. It is an easy swap, assuming the motor is in good condition (bad assumption).
Question for somebody else: If guss's motor is one of the heavy duty 292s, will it be more sluggish than the regular duty 292 in a car?

the crank flange has 1 cresent ebu acording to picture.I did get the heads off and its a 3.75 bore.and it has not been bored.it does have a rear sump pan and with the dipstic in the side of pan.also it has a dipstic on thefront of motor just like my car.so i figure someone put a car motor in a big truck because the belhowsing has the ears on the side of it also.the exhaust manfolds look real good not all rusty and i didnt see no cracks.the outside bolt holes are in line with all the the other holes.so all the truck stuff is for sale because i dont need it.I have never sold anything on ebay I just trade around or sell to people that needs it.
