Hey unibody guys I just bought a 61 shortbed with a 292 & 4spd. I'm going to be customizing it slightly ie: 302 auto mutangII frontend and would appreciate any advice. I'm no newcomer to this sort of thing but a unibody is a new animal for me. Right now it is apperently stock,straight and rust free. I got it cheap and have to put a clutch in it to get it home to San Diego from Tacoma so time is not a factor I have plenty of it.What I need to know is what are the problem areas to look at for these trucks you know hidden rust spots and such. Any help will be appreceated thanks Cobraguy.

These are beautiful trucks, especially when customized a little. One area for rust, (and this is true for every Ford pickup built from 1961 through 1966), the core support outside ends. I have looked at dozens of these and all had rust or repairs. Expensive as hell to replace if you can find one. No one makes replacements or even patches. Good luck on your truck. Please post some beginning and work in progress photos.

I have pictures to put in the gallery I just haven't done it yet. I got this turck at an impound auction so somebody is out there with a broken heart and no truck.I'll keep you posted on progress.
